Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter!

Happy Birthday, Miss Potter
July 28, 1866-December 22, 1943

Did you actually believe that we at The Bunny Bungalow would forget that today is the birthday of Beatrix Potter?  We could never forget the creator of such a delightful bunny world.  Happy Birthday, Miss Potter.

P.S. Click on the photograph of the Peter Rabbit cup to find the tiny "flaw" and learn why he is Peter Rabbit.  The other cup in the tea set is not thus endowed.

Beatrix Potter Watercolor Brings £289,500 at Auction

Tea at The Bunny Bungalow

A charming watercolor, of bunnies putting on their coats and taking their leave of a party, was sold for £289,500 at auction by Sotheby's in London today. The painting was completed by Potter in about 1892. Not bad for an author/artist who received so many rejections that she initially had to publish her own books.

Note: As I do not have permission to use a photo of the painting, I have provided a link here so that you may enjoy it. Also have a look at this site about Beatrix Potter' s life and work. It has delightful pictures, activities, parent/teacher resources and information about Ms. Potter and her characters.

Blogging Business

Kirk Baxter's Designage Card

Recently I met with Kirk Baxter, owner of Designage here in Houston. Kirk will be designing a blog card for The Bunny Bungalow. He understands all things bunny as he has always had house rabbits. He currently lives with Pepper, a two-year-old black rabbit. The day of our appointment, Pepper was hiding out so I did not get to meet her. Perhaps at our next meeting she will make an appearance.

Can't wait to see what Kirk and Pepper come up with for the design!

Tea Time

Decades ago, before grandchildren, before The Bunny Bungalow, Tall Husband and I were at a chic mall. Suddenly there it was in a window of an unlikely shop, spread out for a picnic tea. Tall Husband saw me put my hand over my heart and ran into the shop to enquire. Yes, it was a set and the only one they had and it cost $500.00 USD. We walked away because we are so rational.
Some time later, on my birthday, when I arrived home from work, I found Tall Husband sitting on the floor of the living room. Spread before him was the tea set, ready to serve tea and English biscuits. It seems that this surprise was from him, my son and daughter-in-law. Over the years, Tall Husband and I have had teas, as he read Peter Rabbit to me. Then, when the grandchildren arrived, a tradition of tea and story time evolved.

Tall Husband tells me, "If you could have seen your face when you had it pressed against that shop window, you would have bought it for you." Awwww, Tall Husband.
