Store Cat, heading for her hideout under the stairs
Saturday afternoon, Tall Husband and I were out and about, browsing for antiques. We spied the charming store cat at Adkins Antiques and asked permission to photograph her for my series on animals in retail. Just as I positioned myself on my stomach and was about to snap what would have been a great shot of posing cat, two little girls appeared and decided to direct the shoot, squealing orders to Kitty and me. Kitty dashed into her hiding place under the stairs. If I could have fit, I would have followed her through the cat door. All the commotion aroused the attention of the store dog who came running. Before I could jump to my feet, he planted a large sloppy kiss on my mouth, then licked my camera lens.
Kitty and I will try again later; perhaps after school starts.
Addendum: The visit was not a total failure: we found a great stone bunny for The Bunny Bungalow. Many of our reproductions of antique rabbits are from Adkins. Come by tomorrow for a look at the new bunny.
