Installations Garden Party

Annie

What a party last night! Becki and Jur van der Oord, owners of Installations, threw a garden party at their gargantuan antiques establishment in the Historic Houston Heights. Installations Antiques occupies a century-plus, former textile mill that is dark, moody and mysterious, made more so by Becki and Jur's talents for creating surreal enchantment. In one corner, you're in a child's eighteenth century, candle lit nursery with old wooden rocking horses but turn a corner and you're in a mad, European scientist's laboratory, replete with antique funnels and lab beakers filled with fresh flowers. On more than one occasion, I mistook party food for a styling prop or vice verse: serving myself plaster mushrooms then looking for a price tag on an apple that was actually real.

Tall Husband and I enjoyed meeting and chatting with so many interesting people, including Houston bloggers Courtney, In(side) the Loop, and Carolina, Carolina Eclectic.
